कभी मुरादाबाद का हिस्सा रहे अमरोहा ( Amroha Lok Sabha )  को 15 अप्रैल  1997 को तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री मायावती ने पहली बार ज्योतिबा फुले नगर नाम से जिले का अस्तित्व प्रदान किया। हालांकि यह नाम उनकी सरकार के जाते ही बदल गया। सपा सरकार ने जिले का नाम बदलकर अमरोहा कर दिया। अमरोहा लोकसभा सीट पहले ही आम चुनाव से अस्तित्व में रही। गंगा किनारे बसा यह शहर कॉटन के कपडे, हाथ करघा बुनाई, मिटटी के बर्तनों, चीनी मिल और गलीचे के उत्पादन के लिए पहचाना जाता है।
